Google Calendar

Here's how to add a shared Capacitly calendar using Google Calendar on your Android phone.

Option A: Tap the Link Directly

This is the easiest method and works for most folks.

  1. Open the message containing the shared link on your Android phone.
  2. Tap the subscription link.
  3. Your phone should ask which app to use. Choose Google Calendar.
  4. Follow the on-screen prompts to add the calendar.

That's it! The shared events should now appear in your Google Calendar app.

Option B: Add via a Browser

If tapping the link doesn't work or your phone doesn't give you a calendar option, you can add it through a browser instead.

  1. Open Chrome (or any browser) on your Android phone.
  2. Go to calendar.google.com and sign in to your Google account.
  3. Important: You need to be on the desktop version of the site, not the mobile version. In Chrome, tap the three dot menu and select Desktop site. In other browsers, look for a similar "Desktop site" or "Request Desktop Website" option.
  4. In the left sidebar, find Other calendars and click the + icon.
  5. Select From URL.
  6. Paste the subscription link into the URL of calendar field.
  7. Click Add calendar.

The calendar will show up in your Google Calendar app within a few minutes. You're all set!

Don't see the events? Sometimes the new calendar doesn't show up as visible by default in the app on your phone. Open the Google Calendar app, tap the three line menu (☰) in the top left, and scroll down to look for the new calendar. Make sure the checkbox next to it is checked. If it's unchecked, just tap it and your events will appear.

Tip: This is honestly easiest on a computer if you have one handy. Just head to calendar.google.com, click the + next to "Other calendars" in the left sidebar, select From URL, and paste your link. It'll sync right to your phone.

How to Unsubscribe

  1. Go to calendar.google.com on a computer.
  2. In the left sidebar under "Other calendars," hover over the subscribed calendar.
  3. Click the three dots (⋮) and select Unsubscribe.
