Outlook Calendar

Here's how to add a shared Capacitly calendar using Microsoft Outlook on your Android phone.

Option A: Tap the Link Directly

This is worth trying first, but your phone may open Google Calendar or Samsung Calendar instead of Outlook.

  1. Open the message containing the shared link on your Android phone.
  2. Tap the subscription link.
  3. Your phone should ask which app to use. If Outlook appears, choose it. Otherwise, see Option B below.
  4. Follow the on-screen prompts to add the calendar.

If the events ended up in Google Calendar or Samsung Calendar instead of Outlook, and you specifically want them in Outlook, use Option B.

Option B: Add Through Outlook on the Web

This is the most reliable way to get the shared calendar into your Outlook app specifically.

  1. Open Chrome (or any browser) on your Android phone, or use a computer.
  2. Go to outlook.live.com (or outlook.office.com for work or school accounts) and sign in.
  3. If you're doing this on your phone, make sure you're viewing the desktop version of the site. In Chrome, tap the three dot menu and select Desktop site. In other browsers, look for a similar "Desktop site" or "Request Desktop Website" option.
  4. Switch to the Calendar view.
  5. Click Add calendar.
  6. Select Subscribe from web.
  7. Paste the subscription link into the URL field.
  8. Give the calendar a name (something like "Family Calendar") and click Import.

The subscribed calendar will sync to your Outlook app on Android automatically. You're all set!

Don't see the events? Sometimes the new calendar doesn't show up as visible by default in the Outlook app. Open the Outlook app, tap the Calendar tab, then tap your profile icon or the calendar list icon. Look for the new calendar and make sure the toggle next to it is turned on.

Tip: This is honestly easiest on a computer if you have one handy. Just head to outlook.live.com (or outlook.office.com for work or school), open Calendar, click Add calendar, select Subscribe from web, and paste your link. It'll sync right to your phone.

How to Unsubscribe

  1. Go to outlook.live.com or outlook.office.com.
  2. Open Calendar.
  3. Right-click (or long press) the subscribed calendar in the sidebar.
  4. Select Remove.
