Android Guide

Samsung Calendar

Here's how to add a shared Capacitly calendar using Samsung's built-in Calendar app.

Good to know: The steps here are the same as the Android Google Calendar guide since Samsung Calendar pulls its data from your Google account. The only extra step is making sure sync is turned on in Samsung Calendar.

Option A: Tap the Link Directly

This is the easiest method and works for most folks.

  1. Open the message containing the shared link on your Samsung phone.
  2. Tap the subscription link.
  3. Your phone should ask which app to use. Choose Samsung Calendar (or Google Calendar if Samsung Calendar isn't listed).
  4. Follow the on-screen prompts to add the calendar.

That's it! The shared events should now appear in your Samsung Calendar app.

Heads up: Some Samsung phones may add the events as a one-time import instead of a live subscription that stays in sync. If your events stop updating after the initial add, try Option B below to set up a proper subscription.

Option B: Add via a Browser

If tapping the link didn't work, or your events aren't staying in sync, you can add the subscription through Google Calendar on the web. Since Samsung Calendar syncs with your Google account, the events will show up in Samsung Calendar automatically.

  1. Open Chrome on your Samsung phone (or use a computer if you have one handy).
  2. Go to calendar.google.com and sign in with the same Google account linked to your Samsung Calendar.
  3. Important: You need to be on the desktop version of the site, not the mobile version. In Chrome, tap the three dot menu and select Desktop site.
  4. Click the + next to "Other calendars" in the left sidebar.
  5. Select From URL.
  6. Paste the subscription link and click Add calendar.

The events will sync to your Samsung Calendar app within a few minutes. You're all set!

Don't see the events? Sometimes the new calendar doesn't show up as visible by default. Open the Samsung Calendar app, tap the three line menu (☰), then tap Manage calendars. Make sure your Google account is toggled on and you can see the new calendar listed under it. If it's not showing, tap Sync now at the bottom and give it a few minutes.

Tip: This is honestly easiest on a computer if you have one handy. Just head to calendar.google.com, click the + next to "Other calendars" in the left sidebar, select From URL, and paste your link. It'll sync right to your phone.

How to Unsubscribe

  1. Go to calendar.google.com on a computer.
  2. In the left sidebar under "Other calendars," hover over the subscribed calendar.
  3. Click the three dots (⋮) and select Unsubscribe.
