Step 2 of 4

Create Tags

Tags are how you organize your events into groups. They're the building blocks of selective sharing.

What's a tag? A tag is just a label you create to categorize your events. Think of it like sorting your mail into different bins. "Soccer" goes in one bin, "School Events" goes in another. Later, when you share, you pick which bins each person gets to see.

Steps

  1. Open the Capacitly app on your phone.
  2. Tap the Tag Icon in the top right.
  3. Tap the + button to create a new tag.
  4. Give your tag a name. Keep it short and clear. This is just for you and is not shared.
  5. Pick a color and icon if you'd like (this helps you spot tagged events on your calendar at a glance).
  6. Tap Create.

That's it. Your tag is ready to use. Create as many as you need.

Tag Ideas to Get You Started

Not sure what tags to create? Here are some common ones that work well for most families:

By activity

Soccer, Baseball, Piano, Dance, Scouts

By category

Kids Sports, School Events, Family Events

By audience

Grandparent Stuff, Babysitter Nights, Carpool

By kid

Hudson's Activities, Holden's Activities

Tip: You don't have to get your tags perfect right away. You can always rename, add, or delete tags later. Start with two or three and build from there as you figure out what works for your family.

Keep in mind: Events can have more than one tag. Your daughter's soccer game could be tagged both "Soccer" and "Grandparent Stuff" so it shows up in both shares.

Editing or Deleting a Tag

  1. Go to Tags menu.
  2. Tap the tag you want to change.
  3. Tap Edit. Or tap Delete to remove it.
  4. Edit the name, color, or icon and tap Save.

If you delete a tag, it will be removed from any events and shares that used it. The events themselves won't be deleted, they'll just no longer have that tag.

Next up: Tag Your Events to assign your new tags to the events on your calendar.
